The Employment Skills Access Program (ESA)

The Employment Skills Access Program (ESA) provides FREE skills training to help unemployed individuals acquire the skills needed to transition into the labour force or into further education!

JOB SEEKERS…. Are you looking for work in Canada?

ESA Program participants receive:

  • Essential skills prerequisites for success in employment
  • Assist in preparing individuals for entry or re-entry into the labour force
  • Training to improve your qualifications
  • Provincial and Industry-recognized Certification credentials
  • Information about the trade or profession in BC and Canada
  • Professional job search techniques
  • Individual referrals and resources including ongoing support

Who is the Employment Skills Access Program for?

  • Unemployed, not in receipt of Employment Insurance in the past three years
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be living in British Columbia
  • Not be a Student (i.e. enrolled in high school or enrolled in post secondary training)
  • Not currently be participating in another LMA funded program

Registration Process:

  1. Open and read through an ESA program flyer below for detailed information.
  2. Applicants must have current government issued photo identification.
  3. To apply, download, print, and complete the “Eligibility Screening Form”.
  4. Click here to open and print: ESA Participant Eligibility Screening form (pdf)
  5. Submit by fax or email, this document along with your current resume and identify choice of program.
  6. Fax form to one of these locations:
    • Douglas College Coquitlam Campus Fax #: 604-777-6151 (attention Monifa or Shannan)
    • Douglas College Surrey Training Centre Fax #: 604-588-7774 (attention Peter Sainas)
  7. Applicant will be contacted by a Career Consultant once documentation is received.
